7 Things: Fake polls in gubernatorial race, AL-02 is a toss-up, Trump ready for Iran, and more…

7. Republican lieutenant governor nominee John Wahl and Democrat Phillip Ensler faced off in Alabama’s first partisan statewide general election debate since 2010, it was boring.

6. ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit, who has said he doesn’t “really get into politics,” has drawn fire from aldotcom for daring to do an event with the Business Council of Alabama, after which the group’s Progress PAC donated $154,883 to U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s campaign the next day, as Business Council President Helena Duncan stated, “This election cycle, we’ve taken our political operation to an entirely new level,” and “we’re seeing the results of that work.”

5. U.S. Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) branded the alleged scheme in which Mary Peltola’s campaign and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee secretly recruited a second Dan Sullivan as a spoiler candidate “a scandal at the highest order,” accusing them of spending “over a year scheming in a secret operation to trick Alaskans to get them to throw away their vote,” but the media seems to feel like all of this is fine and the real issue is Republicans being mad about, with one lone voice on CNN, Caroline Sunshine, challenging a panel by asking why Democrats needed to “find a RANDOM WHITE MAN to help siphon votes.”

4. Governor-elect National Championship-winning Coach U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) said that if Alabama legalizes gambling he wants it done comprehensively from the start through a voter referendum coordinated by the governor’s office and legislature, warning against the “total disaster” of the medical marijuana program and stating, “if you’re going to put it out in front of the people that’s going to vote for it in a referendum… Let’s put it all together. Let’s do it right,” adding, “I’m not a gambler… but I want to do what the people of Alabama want to do.”

3. President Donald Trump said “anything’s possible” regarding potential strikes on Iran after the midterm elections while noting Tehran is “tapping” the U.S. until the election which is “not going to help them,” as Vice President JD Vance reportedly sent a letter to an Iranian official to test whether peace talks could discourage further action.

2. A Remington Research Group survey conducted October 23-25 with a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent found Republican nominee State Rep. Rhett Marques (R-Enterprise) leading Democrat incumbent U.S. Rep. Shomari Figures (D-Montgomery) 48 percent to 46 percent, this race is a genuine toss-up.

1. A Democratic-aligned Chism Strategies poll that somehow finds governor’s race a “genuine toss up,” with Governor-elect National Championship-winning Coach U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) leading Doug Jones, a petty wannabe tyrant, cowardly caretaker, former junior senator in an ill-fitting suit, who looks like he just woke up and stole his shoes from a homeless person, who will never be governor, attorney general, or U.S. Senator again, loves crushing ice cream sandwiches, and is definitely maybe a furry, 48 percent to 45 percent, but this seems highly unlikely.
