7. State Sen. Arthur Orr (R-Decatur) expressed concerns that a United Auto Workers win could destroy the state’s auto industry due to the ongoing unionization efforts at a Mercedes Benz factory in Vance. Momentum is growing after the successful unionization effort at a Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga and Orr said he has heard discussions from other automakers concerned about this issue and what it means for Alabama’s economic future.
6. If you are a potential vice presidential candidate, like South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, do not tell stories about how you shot a 14-month-old dog for being a bad hunting dog. According to a recent Pew Research Center poll, the majority of Americans (62%) own a pet, with approximately 35% having more than one pet, and an overwhelming 97% of U.S. pet owners consider their pets to be members of their family.
5. A report about 5 rapes at the University of Alabama in Huntsville is raising a lot of eyebrows considering none of them have been reported to the Madison County District Attorney and the school says there is no “elevated threat.” The story also says 1-in-3 women and 1-in-6 men are sexually assaulted on campus, which is an incredibly dubious and disputed figure, because if this is true, a college campus is a place where no parent should allow their child to go and we should shut down these abuse factories.
4. President Joe Biden’s approval ratings are terribly low, his unpopularity is dragging him down. A new CNN national poll finds former President Donald Trump leads President Joe Biden 49%-43% in a two-way race and 42%-33% in a five-way race. It seems pretty simple why with 55% regarding Trump’s presidency as a success compared to 44% who see it as a failure, while 61% perceive Biden’s presidency as a failure and 39% as a success.
3. As President Joe Biden crumbles and his job performance is considered to be awful by Americans, the media is forced pretending Joe Biden is a decent man, despite all the evidence to the contrary. As this is happening, we are now learning that the super-complex Biden family business isn’t all that complex, Joe Biden serves as the product, while Jimmy and Hunter act as the sales representatives, forming a relatively uncomplicated business framework.
2. Alabama’s Second Congressional District is named a race to watch by Reuters, the news agency’s ranking is the latest national attention the district has received following the district’s redrawing last year to create a seat for a black Democrat. Shomari Figures, a black Democrat and former Justice Department official for both Obama and Biden administrations, is up 45-44% (with 10% undecided) in recent polls over Caroleene Dobson, a Republican real estate attorney.
1. Campus chaos continues across the country with new encampments springing up, violence occurring everywhere, and at Harvard the American flag has been replaced by a Palestinian flag as these students protesting the Israel-Hamas conflict are emboldened by weakness of national and campus leadership. The decision to involve law enforcement, resulting in hundreds of arrests nationwide, has sparked additional backlash from protesters and a media looking to make excuses for them.
