7 Things: Biden rambles at DNC, Alabama delegation worries leadership; AG Marshall targets illegal gambling; and more …

7. As the Democratic National Convention is kicking off, a new CBS poll lays out where voters are on policy, with former President Donald Trump leading Vice President Kamala Harris on the issues of the economy (56-43), inflation (61-38), and the border (76-24). But in a head-to-head match up, the race is far tighter with each candidate claiming wins in different polls and betting markets showing a 49-49 tie.

6. 4 Alabama cities have made the list of best places in the U.S. to live according to U.S. News and World Reports, this includes Huntsville plummeting further down from their former number 1 ranking to 7th on the annual list with Montgomery at 54; Mobile at 102; and even Birmingham at 129th. Bragging about being outside of the top 50 is a weird thing to do but Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed and his inept Chief of Staff are doing it anyway.

5. Pro-Palestinian protesters, organized by the group @directactions4palestine, disrupted events near the Democratic National Convention (DNC) holding a banner that read “Killer Kamala // Gaza’s Speaking” which references Vice President Kamala Harris’s inane, “I’m speaking,” catchphrase. The protesters condemned the Biden-Harris administration and other Democratic leaders for their support of Israel in the ongoing conflict with Hamas, accusing them of complicity in genocide.

4. Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall announced that temporary restraining orders were issued against five illegal gambling facilities in Selma, these facilities must cease operations and restrict access and financial transactions. AG Marshall accurately noted, “These facilities are operating with complete disregard to Alabama law. I applaud Dallas County Sheriff Granthum’s dedication to combat this blight, and willingness to invite our team to assist in addressing these criminal enterprises.”

3. Alabama’s elected officials in Washington are reacting to a House Oversight Committee report detailing allegations against President Joe Biden related to influence peddling during his vice presidency that netted his family $27 million from foreign entitles beginning when Biden was vice president. The report, part of an ongoing impeachment inquiry, accuses Biden of abusing his office to enrich his family and obstructing investigations. U.S. Reps. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) and Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville), both Republicans, expressed support for the inquiry, citing evidence of corruption within the Biden family.

2. The Alabama delegation at the Democratic National Convention is considered to have been selected by “bad-faith actors” and the leadership at the DNC is concerned about Alabama’s delegates. The party has now released documents suggesting close monitoring of the Alabama delegation ahead of the convention in Chicago after accusations from Alabama Democratic Party Chair Randy Kelley that the national party handpicked delegates, bypassing a fair selection process, so neither the delegate from Alabama nor the nominee have had a single vote cast for them this year in the party that screams about “democracy” everyday.

1. President Joe Biden, after having his nomination stolen from him, was trotted out on the stage at the Democratic National Convention to say goodbye and promote Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign. His speech was angry, sad, and full of lies, he touted anti-Israel protesters saying they “have a point,” touted his record on the economy, as it fails and summed up his presidency best when he nonsensically stated, “women are now without electrical, wilnado … not allowed, cuz there’s, not without electrical… electo-toral [nods] or political power…. No kidding.”
