BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Three restaurants from Alabama made Southern Living’s list of the 30 best restaurants in the South for 2015.
Southern Living magazine’s list of The South’s Best Restaurants 2015 features the personal favorites of some of the South’s top chefs, and states the “eateries that everyone needs to try stat.” The list wasn’t ranked in any particular order, but the following three restaurants in Alabama made the top 30.
Chez Fonfon, Birmingham, Ala.
Chef Frank Stitt’s French bistro of Chex Fonfon serves classic French fare in a sophisticated yet cozy atmosphere. From decor to dishes, the quality and authenticity of Chez Fonfon does not disappoint. Southern Living says, “On sunny days, there’s no better place to enjoy a glass of wine or a Dijon Sidecar than the boules court hidden behind the restaurant.”
Odette, Florence, Ala.
Odette is a neighborhood eatery with traditional American food influenced by the South. Chef Josh Quick’s dishes feature locally-sourced ingredients in a contemporary fashion. Odette not only has tasty food, but Southern Living says that their “creative craft cocktail menu that rivals any in the South.”
Fisher’s Upstairs, Orange Beach, Ala.
Chef Bill Briand’s menu is influenced by his Louisiana heritage and focuses on seasonally inspired options with local ingredients. Fisher’s Upstairs provides a wonderful alternative to fried seafood through innovative grilled dishes. Southern Living says, “The seared jumbo scallops with roasted cauliflower and ginger herb salad offers a refreshing recharge before heading back out onto the sand.”
