In Gulf Shores, more than 100 spring breakers were arrested at a single beach house party last week, as the Gulf Shores Police Department emphasized a zero-tolerance approach to underage drinking during the busy tourism season.

According to the department, officers responded around 11 p.m. on March 26 to a large gathering in the 2400 block of West Beach Boulevard, where more than 100 people — most under the legal drinking age — were found inside the residence.

During the response, an unidentified individual poured beer from an upper balcony onto an officer below, soaking the officer’s uniform and equipment.

Police said the incident resulted in 109 arrests for underage possession of alcohol. One individual was also charged with complicity, while four others were released without charges.

The arrests followed a separate incident the previous night, March 25, in the 1300 block of West Beach Boulevard.

Officers responding to another large house party encountered several individuals fleeing on foot while others remained at the residence. Authorities reported finding significant amounts of alcohol, with most attendees again underage.

That incident led to 31 arrests for underage possession of alcohol, along with additional charges of complicity and resisting arrest. Officers had previously issued warnings to individuals associated with the gathering earlier in the week.

In a statement, the department said large, unsupervised gatherings involving underage drinking present safety risks, strain public resources, and disrupt surrounding neighborhoods. Officials reiterated that such behavior violates state law and will be addressed “promptly and consistently.”

“Our message has not changed: everyone is welcome to enjoy our beautiful beaches,” the department said. “At the same time, our community, elected leaders, and the police department maintain a zero-tolerance stance toward conduct that interferes with others’ ability to safely enjoy themselves.”

Law enforcement agencies from across Baldwin County, including Orange Beach and Foley police, assisted Gulf Shores officers during the spring break enforcement effort.
