This is Alabama: Part 1 — Your Government at Work

Over the next several months, Yellowhammer will travel to every corner of Alabama, capturing video footage as we go. We will produce a series of videos we’re calling “This is Alabama…” that we hope will show people around the world a side of our state they may have never seen before — the real Alabama, from the Rocket City to the Magic City to the Port City and every rural mile in between.

Yellowhammer’s first “This is Alabama…” video documents a day at the State House and Capitol in Montgomery.

The Alabama Legislature first moved into the Capitol building on Oct. 1, 1851 and worked out of there until moving to the State House in 1985. From the old House and Senate Chambers in the Capitol, to the space they currently occupy on the 5th and 7th floors of the State House, a lot of history has taken place between those walls.

We hope you enjoy a peek inside Your Government at Work.
