Another year of the NFL Draft has come and gone, and the Auburn Tigers had five players selected in this year’s process. Interestingly enough, all five players came from Auburn’s defense.
The Seattle Seahawks selected the first Tiger in the 5th round with the No. 136 overall pick, using it on defensive back Nehemiah Pritchett, a Jackson, Alabama native and five year player at Auburn.

The second Tiger was also a defensive back, with the Indianapolis Colts using a 5th round selection (No. 164 overall) on Jaylin Simpson, a Brunswick, Georgia native who also played five years.

Clearly, Seattle liked Auburn’s secondary as they would also spend a sixth round pick from an Auburn defensive back, making Mobile native D.J. James the No. 192 overall pick.

All three players, along with seventh round pick defensive tackle Marcus Harris, were invited to the Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile.
Harris would be selected with the No. 247 overall pick in the seventh round to the Houston Texans, while fellow defensive lineman Justin Rogers went three picks earlier to the Dallas Cowboys.

With the talent Hugh Freeze has in-house in 2024, Auburn will be hopeful to have some earlier round picks at the 2025 NFL Draft.
