Walking through the gates of the Birmingham Zoo, guests journey through immersive exhibits featuring 550 animals from six continents and installations that resemble Asia, Africa, South America and more.
How is this possible?
The zoo is able to create educational opportunities and lifelong memories for its guests through the support of the community and state. General admission and memberships are part of the equation, but what really helps is ticket sales to the zoo parties and fundraisers, which is why everyone is invited to Birmingham’s biggest new blowout – Wild at Heart – on Sept. 8, from 6:30-10 p.m.

“Wild at Heart will be an unforgettable evening for our city,” said honorary chair Nancy Goedecke. “Events like this are essential for the zoo to be able to keep its gates open. Proceeds from ticket sales will not only help ensure the zoo can provide necessary maintenance for the animal exhibits, but it will also help the zoo continue its incredible conservation and community work, ensuring our zoo remains an impactful resource and enjoyable destination for generations to come!”
Presented by First Horizon Bank, Wild at Heart is the zoo’s largest fundraising effort of the year. From animal encounters, delicious food, an open bar and music by Yacht Rock Schooner, this is an event you don’t want to miss, Goedecke said. Guests are encouraged to come dressed in their best “wild chic” attire to bring out their inner animal. Come casual or formal in your favorite feathers, stripes, spots or scales.
