‘We’re going to be a battleship’: Tuberville says he will be very active as Governor of Alabama

U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) says he will hit the ground running when sworn in as Alabama’s governor in 2027.

Earlier this week, Tuberville officially announced he will run for Governor of Alabama in the 2026 Republican Party primary. The senator raised $2 million in just the first 24 hours of his campaign.

When asked if his administration will be aggressive like a “battleship,” or fly under the radar like a “submarine,” Tuberville didn’t hesitate in his answer.

“We’re going to be a battleship,” Tuberville said Friday on WVNN radio. “It’s going to take a lot of people, and it’s going to be some changes — not some — a whole lot. You know, we’re going to go at a different direction, running state government in the State of Alabama, and it’s going to take a lot of good, smart minds to do some of the things that we want to do. Again, this is something I’ve been thinking about for a long time, and we’ll start putting this game plan together, because we are going to win.”

The senator said he looks forward to working on many different reforms needed in the Yellowhammer State.

“We’ll have a great game plan in a year and a half, when we take over as governor of the state,” he said. “We’ll be running it with real good people in certain areas that are going to enhance our state. And again, there’s a lot of areas that we need a lot of work. Education, economic development, infrastructure, all those things, but we’ll have an outstanding plan.”

Tuberville said one of his biggest priorities will be growing the economy across the entire state.

“There’s some parts of the state like Huntsville and Mobile and and even Auburn is really rolling right now, economically. We got to get everybody on the same page,” he argued.

“We got to do a lot for everybody. We got 5 million people. It’s going to be a team of 5 million people. I’m not running to be governor and to be able to drive around and and people call me governor. They’re gonna call me coach. We’re gonna put the hard work to it. We’re gonna put her we’re gonna put common sense to it. We’re gonna do it for the people of Alabama.”
