Every week, it appears that our junior U.S. Senator Doug Jones (D-AL) hates the job he has, the people he “represents” and the state he “represents.”
Jones’ position on reopening the economy is standard Democratic politician/cable news hack garbage: We will never have enough tests, don’t open up businesses, keep restaurants closed, people will die and Trump sucks.
Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
This week, Jones went a bit further by suggesting that Alabama’s citizens don’t go to Georgia.
Jones told supporters that it’s not safe to go to Georgia right now.
He added, “We don’t have a wall built between Alabama and Georgia … but if they keep going that way, we might have to.”
Get it? Build the wall.
Clever stuff.
Unfortunately, this ignores a couple of key things, but Jones’ bubble is dictated by his donors from New York City, California, Washington, D.C. and other liberal enclaves, so he misses all of them.
Georgia and Tennessee, which he also slammed, are doing pretty well with this coronavirus.
Alabama is as well, by the way.
But you wouldn’t know this. Georgia has been a whipping boy of the mainstream media, along with Florida.
But the facts don’t support these attacks.
Georgia is currently sitting at 11 deaths per 100,000 residents while Tennessee has three deaths per 100,000.
Alabama and Florida are both doing OK, and are basically tied with California with six deaths per 100,000.
Would you know this by watching the news? No. Doesn’t Jones know this? Doubtful.
Would Jones say we shouldn’t travel to California? Never.
Those schmucks are funding his doomed campaign.
Speaking of that, let’s look at how the rest of Jones’ other top donor states are doing. New York has 121 deaths per 100,000. Washington, D.C. has 32 deaths per 100,000.
California, New York and D.C. donated more to Jones than Alabama has.
Anyone looking at these numbers would view those states as a bigger threat to our state than our neighbors.
Maybe we need a travel ban?
But those people are helping Jones, and he knows being critical of them will get him quarantined from U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and his money.
With all that money flowing in Jones’ direction, it might be better to build a wall around him to protect Alabamians.
