The University of Alabama remained in national headlines this week with the arrival of President Donald J. Trump, who delivered a commencement address to graduates preparing to walk the stage this weekend.
It marked just the second time in history that a sitting U.S. president has spoken on campus, and the first since President Ronald Reagan’s visit in 1984.
Adding to the historic moment, the commencement ceremony featured perhaps the most fitting introductory speaker Tuscaloosa could offer: former Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban, the winner of seven national championships.
Saban shared the hilarious story of when his title winning team from the 2017 season went to visit Trump and the hi-jinx that ensued in the Oval Office:

According to Saban, Trump was the first President to invite the team captain’s to see the Oval Office, and the players were admiring a nice looking box with a red button in it.
Naturally, they asked whether the button was the detonator to the nation’s nuclear missiles, to which Trump replied to push it and find out.
After some hemming and hawing, Rashaan Evans worked up the courage to say he would push the button.
To the player’s surprise and laughter, a woman with a Diet Coke on a tray walked in virtually instantly.
Following the story, Saban took some time to thank Trump for coming and marking the special moment for the University he has come to treasure so much.
“I really want to express my appreciation to President Trump for choosing the University of Alabama for his commencement address and making time to speak to our graduated,” Saban said. “Now it is my distinct honor to introduce our next speaker. Please join me in welcoming the 45th and 47th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump.”
