Watch: Highlight reel shows Alabama’s newest QB commit making play after play

The Alabama Crimson Tide flipped one of the best quarterbacks in the nation for their 2025 class.

Keelon Russell of Duncanville High School in Texas, a powerhouse producer of collegiate talent, was committed to SMU since last September. But head coach Kalen DeBoer and his staff were able to flip the talented young quarterback, making him DeBoer’s first high school quarterback commitment since he took the job in Tuscaloosa.

According to 247 Sports’ composite rankings, Russell is the No. 6 overall quarterback in the country and the No. 10 prospect in the talent-rich state of Texas.

Check out some of the best plays from this future Crimson Tide standout:

Andrew Ivins of 245 described Russell in his scouting report: “Elite playmaker for the quarterback position that can beat defenses with his arm and legs. Has been surrounded by an all-star cast the past two years, but has done more than just steer the boat as he often delivers in key moments. Accurate to the first two levels and gets the ball out fast. Slides around the pocket with his limber movement patterns and has both the speed and agility to turn scrambles into back-breaking gains. More of a one-read anticipatory thrower at this stage, but isn’t afraid to plant his flag and take a hit as he scans the field.”

Russell has also cancelled visits with both Florida and Oregon as he appears locked in with the Crimson Tide.

Alabama may have just found their next star quarterback.
