There was an incredible story in college baseball this week with the Auburn Tigers at the very center of it.
The Tigers were taking on Jacksonville State in a midweek clash at Plainsman Park on Tuesday evening before wrapping up their regular season this weekend against Ole Miss, and things in the game got out of hand.
With Auburn leading 18-0, they had the chance to get some new players into the game, and for one of them, it was his first action of the season.
Andrew Dutton spent his last four years at the now-closed Birmingham Southern, helping to the D3 College World Series last season in their final season of existence.
This year, he joined the Tigers as a graduate assistant and first base coach, but on Tuesday he got the chance to take his first at-bat in an Auburn uniform.
He took the chance and absolutely mashed a home run to right field:

The bench went absolutely nuts for Dutton, clearly showing how much their teammate/coach means to him.
You truly could not write a better script and better way for Dutton to get into his first game, and it’s a moment he and Tigers fans will remember for the rest of their lives.
