Alabama Crimson Tide five-star quarterback signee was named last week as the Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Texas after another huge season for the Duncanville Panthers.
To make the huge honor even more special, Russell was surprised with the award by legendary Alabama cornerback and current Dallas Cowboys superstar Trevon Diggs:

Gatorade names a player of the year in each state and the list of former winners includes some huge names from NFL legend Peyton Manning to Crimson Tide sensational freshman receiver Ryan Williams.
Russell is rated as the No. 2 quarterback in the entire nation and is expected to come in and compete for the starting job at Alabama from the moment he steps foot on campus.
It has been a decorated high school career for the gunslinger who threw a jaw-dropping 52 touchdowns and just two interceptions in 2024.
As he prepares to head off to Alabama, Diggs helped him cap off his high school career the right way by presenting the Tide’s quarterback of the future with the special honor.
