US News: Children’s Hospital among nation’s best

U.S. News & World Report has ranked Children’s Hospital of Alabama among the best children’s hospitals in the entire country.

This is the 14th year in a row the publication has named the Birmingham hospital to the distinguished group.

“Being nationally ranked among the leaders in pediatric healthcare is a strong testament to the hard work, dedication and expertise of our entire staff and our physician partners at the UAB School of Medicine,” said Children’s CEO and President Tom Shufflebarger. “Our goal is to continue to provide exceptional care, service and comfort to the patients who are entrusted to us for medical care.”

The report ranks pediatric specialty services. Children’s is ranked in the top 50 nationally in eight services.

  • Cancer
  • Cardiology and Heart Surgery
  • Diabetes and Endocrinology
  • Nephrology
  • Neurology and Neurosurgery
  • Pulmonology
  •  Urology

The hospitals are ranked through a survey that takes into account the level of patient safety, infection prevention, and adequacy of nurse staffing, according to a news release.

The hospital, according to the 2023-2024 Best Children’s Hospitals Survey, is also the No.1 children’s hospital in Alabama.
