Urban Meyer calls Jalen Milroe ‘the best athlete in college football’

No matter how you feel about him, Urban Meyer has been around the game of football for a long time. The controversial former Florida and Ohio State head coach turned Fox commentator spent 37 years in coaching and won three national championships.

Meyer is making headlines for a hot take about Alabama’s quarterback when he was asked to predict Alabama’s playoff status.

“That Milroe, he might be the best athlete in college football.”

“If I’m a betting person I’m saying Alabama’s in the final four. They’ve only lost FOUR games in November/December in the last decade,” Meyer said. “Don’t ever challenge their roster, because they have great players and they’ll figure it out. And they did figure it out.”

Milroe has certainly made his case as the best athlete in college football. His development as a passer over the course of the year has been astounding, and he has done it all while improving tremendously on his decision making on when to pull it and run as well.

The game against LSU was Milroe’s crown jewel, running for four touchdowns and 155 yards along with throwing for another 219. Milroe followed that up last week against Kentucky with a six total touchdown performance, three of them on the ground and three of them through the air.

If Alabama were to make a run to the College Football Playoff, Milroe would certainly be a massive reason why.
