University of Alabama announces seating capacity, attendance policies for 2020 football season

The University of Alabama Athletics Department on Tuesday announced new policies for home football games at Bryant-Denny Stadium this season.

The changes for 2020 are due to the COVID-19 pandemic and fully comply with local and state orders, as well as guidelines announced by the SEC earlier the same day. UA’s policies, which feature heightened health and safety protocols, were meticulously formulated with the input of medical professionals and subject matter experts, even going above and beyond CDC guidance.

First, admittance into the stadium for each home game will be limited to 20% of the total seating capacity to accommodate social distancing between spectators.

Another key change for fans is that there will be no tailgating allowed on campus at any Crimson Tide home game this fall.

As previously announced, UA will only utilize mobile tickets for the games. It was announced Tuesday that parking passes will all be mobile, too. Both of these policies are intended to limit touchpoints.

Additionally, each person attempting to enter the stadium will need to present a cleared GuideSafe Event Passport. This can be done electronically up to 48 hours before game time or on paper at customer service tents on game day.

All spectators will be required to wear a face covering upon entering the stadium. Anyone without their own facial covering will be provided a disposable mask to wear before entering.

Social distancing will be encouraged outside the stadium as spectators await entry, as well as in the stadium in concession, bathroom and other areas, through on-ground markers and signage.

Hand sanitizer dispensers will reportedly be installed throughout the facility, including one at each gate.

Certain premium areas inside the stadium will still be used this season in modified fashions, including the Champions Club, Terrace Club, Ivory Club, North Zone, South Zone and Field Suites. However, the Stadium Club, Scholarship Club and A-Club Rooms will not be available due to social distancing restrictions.
