The University of Alabama at Birmingham announced it will host its 20th Annual UAB Alumni Scholarship Run next month, giving runners and supporters multiple ways to participate while helping raise money for student scholarships.
The race is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in Crestline Village in Birmingham. Organized by the UAB National Alumni Society, the event will feature a 10K, a 5K, a Fun Run, and a virtual participation option.
According to UAB, the annual Scholarship Run helps advance the alumni society’s mission and has raised more than $1 million for student scholarships since it began in 2007.
Race-day activities will begin with check-in opening at 7 a.m. The 10K run is set to start at 8 a.m., followed by the 5K at 8:05 a.m. and the Fun Run at 9 a.m. Awards are scheduled for 9:45 a.m.
Organizers say the race will again use a flat course through Crestline Village, with chip timing for participants. The 10K route will consist of two loops of the 5K course.
All participants, including those taking part virtually, will receive a packet with a T-shirt and finisher medal. Winner medals will also be awarded to first-place finishers overall in the 5K and 10K races, as well as in each age and gender category.
Online registration for the 5K, 10K and Fun Run will remain open until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 17, with onsite registration available on race day for in-person events. Packet pickup is scheduled for April 16-17 at the UAB Alumni House.
Those interested in registering can do so through the official race page.
