5 DAYS REMAINING IN THE 2024 ALABAMA LEGISLATIVE SESSION

U.S. Senate hopeful Katie Britt decries ‘political volleyball’ aspect of COVID pandemic — ‘Start talking truth instead of talking fears’

For better or worse, politics has made its way into how policymakers respond to the COVID-19 pandemic nationally.

According to Katie Britt, a candidate for U.S. Senate in Alabama, those politics are for the worse given the double standards and fear applied to those discussions.

During an appearance on Mobile talk radio’s FM Talk 106.5, Britt described the phenomenon as a “political volleyball,” which she suggested was causing an erosion of trust.

“They see what is happening with regards to the far left using this as a political volleyball to whatever is good at the time,” she said. “And unfortunately, you see it obviously with President Obama’s birthday party. You know, everyone saw the pictures of that. Everyone there having a great time, unmasked and yet telling us our children have to be masked in our schools or that we need to be masked when we go to work.”

“And so, people can see that, and they can see that it is being used as a political volleyball,” Britt continued. “So they lose trust. What the American people deserve is they deserve leaders they can trust, that will tell them the truth. Let’s take a look at it. Let’s look at what the risks are. Let’s talk about being vaccinated and talk about how if you choose to get vaccinated — how that protects you. Look at the numbers — how many people who are getting are vaccinated. That number is small, but it is even smaller: the number of vaccinated people who get it actually end up in the hospital.”

Britt explained that offering “truth” would help remedy the distrust.

“So, just start talking truth instead of talking fears and out of both sides of your mouth,” she said. “People are sick of career politicians that that is all they do because then they can’t trust them, and they can’t lean on them for direction. That’s what we’re seeing in this country is people just being fed up with people talking out of both sides of their mouth.”
