North Alabama has a valuable ally in its quest to make sure Huntsville remains the federal government’s choice for the U.S. Space Command headquarters.

Earlier this week, U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), a member of the U.S. Senate Armed Service Committee, endorsed the pick that was initially made by then-President Donald Trump shortly before leaving office.

Blackburn told Huntsville ABC affiliate WAAY 31’s Matt Kroschel that Huntsville was the “logical choice.”

“Of course, Space Force is coming our way,” Blackburn told WAAY 31 while visiting the Rocket City for a Lee Greenwood tribute concert. “It was a logical choice when you look at workforce. We have a ready workforce.”

“We’ve got a lot of Tennesseans that work here in Huntsville,” she added. “So, when you look at HudsonAlpha and Redstone Arsenal, and the work that I do on Senate Armed Services — NASA fits into that.”
