U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers: Biden-Iran nuclear deal will be ‘dead on arrival’ in GOP-majority Congress

Despite objections from Israel, the Biden administration is reportedly nearing an agreement to revive a nuclear deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Former President Donald Trump in 2018 pulled the United States from the 2015-negotiated Iran nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

According to reports, the agreement is set to provide the rogue Islamist nation with billions of dollars in sanctions relief.

In response to the reports, U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Saks), the lead Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, proclaimed that Iran’s efforts to target Americans that the theocratic regime identified as enemies of its extremist government disqualifies it from sanctions relief.

“Iran’s attempts to assassinate American officials and dissidents on American soil should immediately disqualify them from any sanctions relief from the United States,” declared Rogers. “Just last week, terrorists backed by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps attacked a base housing U.S. troops in Syria. Yet, the Biden administration is working overtime to broker a deal that will provide billions of dollars to the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism. Providing Iran with the money they need to advance towards a nuclear weapon, expand its terrorist network, and aid Vladimir Putin at the same time, is a mistake that will cost lives.”

American and Israeli national security would be in jeopardy should Iran accomplish its goal of obtaining a nuclear weapon, warned the congressman.

“Iran repeatedly violated the last nuclear deal, and they will violate this one as well,” advised Rogers. “The Biden administration needs to be clear eyed on Iran’s real ambitions. Iran does not want to be accepted into the international community – they want to build a nuclear arsenal capable of killing every American and wiping Israel off the map.

According to Rogers, a Republican-majority Congress would derail the Biden administration’s efforts to strike another nuclear agreement with the terrorist regime.

“Let me make this clear, this deal with Iran will be dead on arrival in a Republican controlled Congress and Congress will strengthen sanctions against Iran,” he added. “Any assurances to the contrary that the Biden administration gives to Mullahs in Tehran is worth less than the paper it’s written on.”
