U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) on Wednesday officially qualified his reelection bid for Alabama’s second congressional district with the Alabama Republican Party (ALGOP) in Birmingham.
Moore, a first-term congressman, was recently endorsed by free enterprise advocacy organization Club for Growth. According to the organization’s political action committee, which endorsed Moore’s 2020 candidacy, it had won more than 80% of its races in the last primary election cycle.
Upon qualifying for a second term, Moore hailed his staff’s service to his constituents.
“I am not running on making promises. I am running on keeping promises. I’d like to thank my staff, who have servants’ hearts,” asserted Moore. “When I hired this team, I hired people who would serve you. They work for you, I work for you. Sometimes in government we lose sight of that, but we are public servants and we serve you. We are the voice of the people.”
He continued, “I would also like to thank my wife Heather and our entire family. We ran as a family, and we serve as a family. With Heather and me, you get two for the price of one. We’ve made a great team, the Lord has blessed me with her, and we continue to serve the people of this great state, the district and our nation.”
The South Alabama congressman called for party unity and proclaimed that Republicans who launch primary challenges against congressional conservatives would be assisting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to the GOP’s detriment.
“A campaign will not sidetrack me from doing this job. Republicans must come together in states like Alabama so we can help others in competitive states and districts to take back the majority,” declared Moore. “Any Republican waging war against conservatives in Congress instead of fighting against the Democrats will be playing into Nancy Pelosi’s hands. This race is bigger than one man, bigger than anyone’s ambition – we are in a battle for the future of our nation, a spiritual battle. I ask that you keep me, my team, my family, and our nation in your prayers. God bless you.”
