Tuberville: Trump and Vance ‘are going to be running the Senate’

U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville appeared Wednesday on FOX Business to discuss Senator John Thune’s (R-SD) victory in the race for Senate Majority Leader. He also took the opportunity to reassure Americans that despite the results of the race, it will be President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance who will truly be running the chamber.

Tuberville (R-Auburn) was first asked if Thune will “push hard for President Trump’s agenda.”

“He has no choice,” he said. “There was a mandate last week that said, hey, we want President Trump to have his team. We want to take back our country. Republicans, if you’re not on the team, get out of the way. ”

The Senator noted that while he voted for Rick Scott, he believes that Thune will work with Trump closely.

“Jon Thune will be on the team. I voted for Rick Scott because I thought he could communicate better with President Trump because they were both in the business world. But John Thune got the nod. Let’s go. We’re not going to have a lot of time to waste. I think think he’ll do a good job.”

“But again, President Trump and J.D. Vance are going to be running the Senate.”

Tuberville also spoke to media outlets immediately after the vote.

“I appreciate Senator Scott’s business and military background. He’s not a career politician — and that’s why I felt he was best for the job. However, this morning, today, in our meeting, our republican conference, voted to make Senator John Thune of South Dakota our new leader. During my meeting with Senator Thune, I shared with him the importance of united behind President Trump’s agenda. The American people sent a clear mandate last week.”

“They want President Trump’s America First agenda, and they want it now.”
