U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) told reporters Wednesday that he will be the Chairman Subcommittee on Rural Development and Energy, which is a part of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry.
The subcommittee oversees many of the programs in USDA’s Rural Development mission area, including facilities, utilities, loans, and renewable energy. Tuberville is the current ranking Republican member.
The senator discussed his committee assignments during a press call Wednesday.
“Well, of course, Armed Services Committee, I’m on several of the the subcommittees of which one is strategic command, which has a lot to do with our nuclear arsenal, and on the Ag Committee,” Tuberville said. “I will be the chairman of the rural area economic and energy committee, which is has a lot to do with the gas and oil that we have in our state and across the country. I look forward to that. Senator Boozeman, Arkansas, will be the chairman of the of the Agriculture Committee, and Senator Wicker from Mississippi will be Chairman of the Armed Services Committee. So looking forward to working with those two in those areas.”
“I’ll also be on the Health Committee and the Veterans Committee, Tuberville added. “I look forward to kind of moving up the ladder, up here. You know, it’s all about seniority and working your way up, and we’ll move up quite a bit this year for this congress and looking forward to helping the people of Alabama and for the people of this country, it’s going to be a lot of big decisions made under this Trump Administration.”
