Tuberville says Marjorie Taylor Greene ‘made some strange statements,’ but urges GOP to come together

For whatever reason, Democrats and the media have sought to get as many Republican elected officials to offer their thoughts on U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), a controversial freshman lawmaker who has reportedly taken views considered far outside of the mainstream.

Among those questioned was U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn), who declined to comment on Greene earlier, stating that travel under bad weather had inhibited his ability to track a story that has dominated left-of-center news outlets over the past several days.

However, during an appearance on “Alabama’s Morning News” on Birmingham radio’s 105.5 WERC, Tuberville told host JT Nyeswander he felt Greene had made “some strange statements” but maintained Republicans should be focused on getting back control of the U.S. Senate.

“You know, the support up here is pretty strong,” he said. “I will tell you that because we all got the same agenda. Now, you do have people that step out, like this young lady. She’s in the House. I don’t know her. She made some strange statements. I will say that — that ‘9/11 didn’t happen,’ and some things like that. But we as a group of Republicans have to come more together. You know, they got their people over there, like AOC and ‘The Squad.’ They don’t rally around them much, but they do bend their way. The problem that we have is the mainstream media just hammers, absolutely hammers anything that goes awry in the Republican Party. But we know that. We understand that. We should expect it. But we’ve got to fight. We’ve got to fight like heck to get the Senate back.”
