U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) has received the Institute for Legislative Analysis’ “Defender of Limited Government” award recognizing his voting record in Congress.

The organization announced the recognition this week, citing Tuberville’s voting record and what it described as his “continued commitment to limited government principles.”

“Congratulations @SenTuberville on earning ILA’s Defender of Limited Government Award,” the Institute for Legislative Analysis wrote on X. “We’re proud to recognize his voting record and continued commitment to limited government principles.”

The Washington-based policy organization publishes an annual Limited Government Index evaluating congressional votes against positions it identifies with limited-government principles.

ILA said its 2026 index examined 305 congressional roll calls and more than 89,000 individual lawmaker votes across 10 policy categories. The organization describes the scorecard as an effort to measure how closely lawmakers’ voting records align with its positions on the size and scope of government.

Tuberville thanked the organization for the recognition.

The award comes during Tuberville’s final year in the U.S. Senate as he campaigns as the Republican nominee for governor of Alabama.
