The Alabama Business Coalition hosted U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville for a discussion on the state’s priorities and the role employers will play in Alabama’s future.

Tuberville (R-Auburn), the Republican nominee for governor, spoke during the coalition’s July member meeting. Auburn University sponsored the gathering, and Auburn President Christopher B. Roberts introduced Tuberville before his remarks.

The coalition said Tuberville provided an update on major issues facing Alabama and participated in a candid discussion with members about the state’s future.

“It was a privilege for the Alabama Business Coalition to host Coach Tommy Tuberville at our July meeting,” said Watson Donald, the coalition’s board chair.

“His thoughtful update on Alabama’s priorities and the candid discussion about the issues shaping our state’s future was well received by our members.”

The Alabama Business Coalition brings together corporate representatives and government affairs professionals from companies operating throughout the state.

Donald said the organization remains focused on policies that allow Alabama employers to invest, expand their operations and create jobs.

“ABC is committed to advancing a pro-business environment where employers can invest, create jobs, and grow, and we value leaders like Coach Tuberville who recognize the vital role Alabama’s business community plays in driving our state’s continued success,” he said.

Tuberville has made economic development, workforce preparation and reducing barriers to business growth central themes of his gubernatorial campaign.

His campaign recently announced a pre-transition team that will examine state agencies, spending and policies involving education, energy and economic development before the November election.
