In his campaign to become Alabama’s next governor, U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) has picked up the support of another influential organization within the state. The Electric Cooperatives of Alabama Political Action Committee (PAC), the political arm of the Alabama Rural Electric Association of Cooperatives (AREA), announced its endorsement of the lawmaker earlier this week.

According to AREA, the endorsement was unanimously approved by the PAC’s board of directors.
“In the U.S. Senate, Tuberville has worked to fight burdensome regulations, support critical infrastructure investments, and protect the energy security and economic strength of our state,” said Karl Rayborn, CEO of AREA. “We are confident he will continue to champion rural Alabama and common-sense energy policies as governor, and we are proud to back him.”
Sean Strickler, VP of External Affairs at AREA, also praised Tuberville’s understanding of the need for strong energy infrastructure.
“Coach gets that meeting growing demand means investing in our grid, cutting red tape, and building the foundation for jobs and growth,” said Strickler. “He has the vision — and the guts — to continue the good work being done in our state.”

Tuberville thanked the organization for its endorsement and pledged to help Alabama meet its ‘energy potential.’
“I’m grateful for the support of the Electric Cooperatives of Alabama,” Tuberville said. “Our rural communities are the heart and soul of Alabama. Soaring inflation and out-of-control energy regulations under Joe Biden made life more expensive and sent American jobs overseas. When I’m Governor, I’ll work with President Trump to lower prices, get rid of ridiculous regulations, and unleash Alabama’s energy potential.”
The Alabama Rural Electric Association of Cooperatives (AREA) represents 22 member-owned electric distribution cooperatives that provide reliable, affordable power to over 1 million Alabamians. Together with Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), PowerSouth Energy Cooperative, and Southern Power, AREA helps its member cooperatives strengthen Alabama’s rural communities, promote sound energy policy, and grow the state’s economy.
