Tuberville calls for ‘full and fair’ Senate impeachment trial of Mayorkas

On Tuesday, U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville escalated his call for the higher chamber to hold a full impeachment trial of U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Since the U.S. House of Representatives impeached Mayorkas in Ferbruary, Sen. Tuberville (R-Auburn) said it’s time to get it done — and do it right.

“I’m calling on Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to hold a full and fair impeachment trial of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas,” said Tuberville. “Secretary Mayorkas has intentionally failed to secure the border in the three years since his swearing in. I will be voting to hold Secretary Mayorkas accountable.”

Tuberville said that the unchecked chaos at the Southern Border has cost innocent American lives.

“The border is the worst in U.S. history, with at least nine million people entering illegally since Joe Biden took office. This is more than a crisis,” stated Tuberville.

“This is an invasion facilitated by the Biden Administration – one which impacts every city and state across the country. 22-year-old Laken Riley in Georgia. 12-year-old Travis Wolfe in Missouri. Washington State Trooper Chris Gadd. These Americans were all murdered by illegal aliens.”

“Their blood is on the hands of Joe Biden and Alejandro Mayorkas.”

The Senator acknowledged that Democrats in the upper chamber will more than likely continue to stonewall Mayorkas’ impeachment proceedings.

“I expect Senate Democrats will try to table the articles of impeachment and sweep Biden’s border bloodbath under the rug. Every Democrat in the House already voted to save Mayorkas’ job, effectively endorsing the crisis at the border.”

He emphasized the importance of adhering to precedent and also said that Mayorkas’ trial could bring a small amount of justice to families of Americans recently killed at the hands of illegal aliens.

“In the 235 years since the birth of our great nation, articles of impeachment have never been tabled, and we must not do that here. The families of Laken Riley, Travis Wolfe, and Trooper Gadd deserve a full and fair trial.”

“It’s time for Secretary Mayorkas to finally be held accountable.”
