Sen. Tommy Tuberville said Wednesday a hearing on holds and abortion policy within the U.S. military provided “no answers” to his inquiries.
“We had a briefing this morning with the Armed Services Committee with the people who actually put this (military abortion policy) together for the White House and the Pentagon,” Tuberville said at his weekly press availability with Alabama reporters. “We’re talking lawyers, we’re talking about assistant secretaries, and people that are involved with the White House.
“It wasn’t a very good briefing. Basically at the end of the day they had really no answers.”
Tuberville (R-Auburn) said the haphazard nature of the current policy is true to form for the Biden administration and called it “sad.”
“So what they’ve done is changed the policy and have no clue what they are doing,” he said. “What else is new up here with this administration?”
“It’s just sad that we are seeing this going on in terms of just doing something on a whim because they want to do it, they think they can get it done.”
Tuberville said he will continue the military holds until a change in the policy occurs.
“We are going to have these holds on the generals and admirals until the point that we feel like the American citizens and taxpayers are covered without having to pay for abortions,” he said.
