Trump: ‘We will end up being stronger than ever before’

President Donald J. Trump is rallying the American people as the nation deals with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

In tweets and in his recent public remarks, the president has been encouraging unity and expressing optimism. He even praised U.S. House Democrats on Saturday morning for working with Republicans to pass the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.

On Monday, Trump continued his newfound role as “Unifier in Chief” on Twitter.

“God Bless the USA!” he added.

This followed Sunday, which he had declared as a National Day of Prayer. Many church services either did not meet in person or had smaller crowds than normal due to social distancing and quarantining practices recommended to combat the spread of coronavirus.

Trump also delivered remarks on Sunday to members of the press. He was joined by Vice President Mike Pence and other members of the Coronavirus Task Force.

The president noted that “we’re the strongest country in the world, by far, financially and every other way.”

He further asked people to stop overstocking — and in some cases, hoarding — unnecessarily.

“[Y]ou don’t have to buy so much. Take it easy. Just relax. … We’re doing great. It all will pass,” Trump said.

“There’s no shortages,” the president added. “Our supply chains in America are the most powerful in the world, and they’re all working very hard.  They’re working around the clock. … There’s no need for anybody in the country to hoard essential food supplies. … Relax.  Because there’s plenty.”
