Trump, Barry Moore backing Jordan for U.S. House Speaker

On Thursday, former President Donald Trump announced that he was endorsing House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan to be the next Speaker of the House of Representatives. Congressman Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) agrees.

“I believe we should listen to the leader of our party,” Rep. Moore said on Twitter. “I know Chairman Jordan will help us get real wins for the American people, and I fully support him for Speaker of the House.”

“Congressman Jim Jordan has been a STAR long before making his very successful journey to Washington, D.C., representing Ohio’s 4th Congressional District,” said President Trump on Trush Social. “Respected by all, he is now Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. As President, I had the honor of presenting Jim with our Country’s highest civilian award, The Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Some Trump supporters have been encouraging the House to elect Trump as the Speaker.

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise of Louisiana is also an announced candidate for speaker.

The U.S. House of Representatives made history on Tuesday when Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-California) was ousted by disgruntled members of his own caucus led by Matt Gaetz (R-Florida).

Since the GOP has such a slim majority the next speaker will have to be acceptable to Republican moderates, more mainstream conservatives, as well as the Freedom Caucus and Gaetz and other more volatile members of the Republican Caucus.
