True the Vote holding election integrity forum April 27

True The Vote, a national nonpartisan organization dedicated to election integrity, will be hosting an Election Integrity Forum in Montgomery on April 27. It will be held at the Montgomery Performing Arts Centre from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Doors for the event open at 6 p.m.

The forum will feature Republican primary candidates for governor, secretary of state and U.S. Senate.

The founder of True The Vote, Catherine Engelbrecht, stated in a release, “We’ve just come out of an election cycle where there was a lot of frustration and confusion. The purpose of this forum is to have a candid conversation about Alabama elections; what works and what doesn’t.”

Alabama voters will have the opportunity to hear directly from candidates on what they believe the current state of Alabama elections are and what each candidate’s ideas would be for how the process could be improved for future voting cycles.

The goal of True the Vote is to work to demystify the steps and inner workings of the electoral process so more citizens have a better understanding of the process and how to make sure integrity and accountability exist in every step of the process.

Engelbrecht added, “Fair, free and honest elections aren’t a Republican issue. They’re not a Democratic issue. They’re an American issue.”

True the Vote said it was awaiting a response from the Alabama Democratic Party and their candidates about hosting a forum for their voters. This is the first of what the organization plans to be many forums educating and equipping citizens to protect election integrity at the polls so that every election is free and fair.
