Topps publishes official Birmingham-Southern baseball trading card

Topps, one of the world’s leading producers of baseball trading cards and other sports-themed collectibles, has announced the publication of an official Birmingham-Southern College baseball card.

“We’re making an official trading card of the Birmingham-Southern College baseball team,” the company posted on social media. “Despite the college PERMANENTLY CLOSING, their baseball team has made the NCAA College World Series.

“A portion of the proceeds from these cards will be given to the baseball program… (and we’re also giving some cards to the team to distribute to players, friends & family!) Congrats, @BSCsports on the historic Cinderella run.”

The cards cost $8.99 a unit and are available for purchase here.

The Birmingham-Southern baseball team is currently on a historic run, reaching the Division III College World Series in the last year of its school’s existence. BSC closes on Friday, May 31, the same day the Panthers play their CWS opener against Salve Regina.

The Panthers’ story has attracted significant national attention, drawing features from ESPN, Yahoo!, the Washington Post, and more. Several documentary crews have requested permission to travel with the team, including the creator of MTV’s Two-A-Days.

The program is relying on community support to finance its remaining travel expenses. The team’s GoFundMe has already shot past its goal of $100,000 dollars, and the Topps cards stand to further support the Panthers.
