Philip Bryan | Chief of Staff | Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh
Bryan’s first job in politics was as communications director at the Alabama Republican Party during the wildly successful 2010 election cycle. He parlayed that into becoming the top staffer for the most powerful state senator in Alabama. Not a bad second stop on what promises to be a long career in state politics.
Bryan’s role in the Pro Tem’s office puts him in a position to influence the legislative process in a significant way. Nowhere was that more on display than in the passage of the Accountability Act during the 2013 session. He helped formulate the GOP’s strategy to bring school choice to Alabama and was instrumental in its execution.
These days Bryan forgets more things that are going on in the senate on a daily basis than most people up there know to begin with. If you’re a senator, lobbyist or staffer and you really need to know something on the 7th floor of the state house, he’s probably your first stop.
Once Sen. Marsh decides what direction he wants things to go, it’s on Bryan to make it happen, and he usually does.
