One day after a mass shooting rattled residential areas of Montgomery, more gunfire left an ominous message for the thousands of professionals and government employees who work downtown. A bullet hole was discovered in the seventh-floor window of an office building owned by the Retirement Systems of Alabama (RSA), just blocks away from the Alabama Capitol and Statehouse.
“The Montgomery Police Department says officers responded to the area of Hank Way and Centennial Way on Friday just before 7:40 p.m. and again on Saturday at 10 p.m. on reports of gunfire. Officers did not find a scene or damage in either incident and there were no reports of injuries,” WSFA News reported. “That changed on Monday.”
“Just before 9:15 a.m. Monday, officers responded to the 400 block of Adams Avenue on reports of gunfire damage at a business. There were no injuries, but investigators were shown damage, including windows with bullet holes in them.”

Outrage and disgust at the city’s “out-of-control” violent crime continues to escalate among residents, directed almost unanimously at Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed, who returned to the city after a mass shooting left 13 injured in its wake early morning Sunday.
In recent days, Reed has occupied his social media channels with photos of himself from the conference of mayors he was attending at the time of the mass shooting. He made a post informing the public he was “aware” of the bloodshed in his city as federal law enforcement was called in.
Yesterday, Reed fired off a post to WAKA 8 news anchor Estee Morrison, whose coverage has factually reported the “drastic uptick” in Montgomery property crimes, “daily shootings” taking place, a shortage of law enforcement personnel, and the failures of leadership underpinning it all.

Monday night, after another person was shot and taken to the hospital in life-threatening condition in his city, Reed posted an emoji of a face containing laughter.
