Alabama’s governor’s race is highlighting a sharp policy contrast between Republican nominee U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville and Democratic nominee former U.S. Sen. Doug Jones.

A statewide poll of 601 likely voters conducted July 8-11 found Tuberville leading Jones 49% to 41%, with 11% undecided. That’s substantially closer than Alabama’s recent statewide election margins, although one poll alone cannot establish where the race will ultimately finish

Jones is emphasizing a temporary pause and new guardrails for data center development, while Tuberville is emphasizing continued development alongside taxpayer protections.
