Tuberville sends message to ALGOP: ‘We’re still in the first quarter of this new administration’

U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville addressed the Alabama Republican Party’s Trump Victory dinner on Thursday night in Birmingham in a video message that welcomed the headliner the crowd was all there for: Donald Trump, Jr.

Tuberville said he wasn’t able to attend the event in person because he needed to be in Washington D.C. to vote on some important pieces of legislation.

Chief among them being extending President Trump’s tax cuts. The U.S Senate voted Thursday to start work on their version of a “big, beautiful bill” of tax breaks and spending cuts. The U.S. House passed their framework over a month ago.

“If you think about it in football terms, we’re still in the first quarter of this new administration,” Tuberville (R-Auburn) said.

“The next big play is passing a budget resolution and delivering these great tax cuts that President Trump gave us years ago that are expiring, but we’ve got to get it re-done. As far as I’m concerned, getting President Trump’s tax cuts passed is number one priority, and it should have been done six weeks ago, to be honest with you, but that’s how the swamp works.”

“So we’re voting today, we’re voting tomorrow, we’re voting all weekend to get this done,” he said. “And you would think Republicans all working together to help President Trump and the 77 million people who voted for it, and undo all this damage that the Biden radical Democrats did to us over the past four years. No, that’s not happening.”

Tuberville also defended Trump’s new posture on tariffs and cited examples of mainstream media, currently at war with Trump’s latest round of tariffs, that begrudgingly told the truth about the results.

Including one from CNN that read, “Tariffs prompt US Steel to restart work on Alabama mill” in 2019.

“RINO Republicans and the leftist Democrats teamed up again to try to block President Trump’s agenda. You know, last night, several Republicans voted with Democrats to try to block President Trump’s tariffs,” he lamented.

“You heard that right. A few RINO Republican senators think they know better than the 77 million Americans who voted for the 47th president of United States, Donald J Trump and his agenda. You know, that’s a total joke. As you all know, yesterday was Liberation Day. President Trump’s tariffs are here, and the Democrats I know are panicking. President Trump delivered a historically strong economy during his first term, and he’s going to do it again.”

Tuberville also touted some of the early successes of the Trump administration.

“President Trump has also been working to restore a law in order to make America safe again,” Tuberville said.

“Illegal border crossings have plummeted. The border is the most secure they’ve ever been. Thank God, Homeland Security secretary, Kristi Noem and the Border Czar are also working around the clock to detain and deport illegals and the Democrats, they are losing their mind to fighting us right to pull out. They love their illegals. One of my favorite things President Trump has done is restore common sense in this country. President Trump is getting rid of woke, racist DEI ideology in our government.”
