For the past two-and-a-half years, Alabama has been at a decided disadvantage in the committee rooms, corridors and chambers of the U.S. Senate as only one of our senators has fulfilled his oath to faithfully represent the citizens he was elected to serve.
Sen. Richard Shelby has done well by Alabama, and both our state and our nation are better off for his service. Moreover, he has proven to be a loyal vote for President Donald Trump’s conservative agenda, his efforts to appoint judges who believe in constitutional principles rather than activist politics, and his work to secure our nation’s border.
When you contrast Sen. Shelby’s stellar service with the work of Alabama’s junior senator, Democrat Doug Jones, the differences are all at once shocking and shameful.
It is time for Alabama to have two senators, not one, who represent the core conservative values that our citizens hold dear.
It is time for Alabama to have two senators, not one, who support the Trump agenda and the conservative movement our president promotes.
It is time for Alabama to have two senators, not one, who believe the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights are the bedrock foundation of our nation and not just an antiquated and outdated list of suggestions.
I stand ready to give Alabamians the faithful service and honest representation that Doug Jones has failed to provide.
Promising to govern as a moderate during his 2018 campaign for Senate, Jones quickly shed his political camouflage as soon as he reached Washington and revealed himself to be a dyed-in-the-wool, left-wing liberal whose philosophies were more attuned to the East and West Coasts than to the Deep South.
Without hesitation, he jumped in bed with the Nancy Pelosi/Chuck Schumer/Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wing of the Democrat Party and cuddled up close with the lunatic liberal fringe.
When President Trump appointed Brett Kavanaugh, a qualified, competent and talented nominee, to the U.S. Supreme Court, Jones opposed him despite the fact that the judge held the same beliefs and constitutional views as the overwhelming majority of Alabamians.
Even worse, when President Trump was tried before the U.S. Senate on false and manufactured impeachment charges cooked up by Pelosi’s Marxist mob, Doug Jones twice voted to remove him from office. He did this despite the fact that President Trump won Alabama with 62% of the vote in 2016, and absolutely no credible evidence of wrongdoing existed.
During the 2020 State of the Union Address, Jones joined with the most liberal members of the U.S. Congress and sat on his hands throughout the speech, even when President Trump promoted a 100-year-old Tuskegee Airman to Brigadier General and honored another military veteran from Montgomery. And once the address was complete, he stood idly by as Pelosi ripped up the speech on national television.
As Alabamians, we cherish the right to bear arms that is guaranteed to us in the Bill of Rights. Our founders believed it so important, they made it the Second Amendment, just behind protecting our right to worship God. Yet on the floor of the U.S. Senate, Doug Jones has never once voted with the National Rifle Association, and he joined extremists like Ilhan Omar in accepting money and endorsements from radical gun control groups.
It is also telling that when he was elected to the Senate, the highest leadership of Planned Parenthood celebrated and released a statement that read, “We look forward to working with Doug Jones to fight for access to reproductive health care for all.” Reproductive health care, as we all know, is the more palatable, politically-correct code for abortion on demand.
There is a reason that liberals from New York, California and other dark blue states are dumping millions of dollars into Doug Jones’ campaign treasury – it’s because he is one of them. Many of the same groups and individuals who believe in defunding the police also believe in funding Doug Jones.
During the Democrat presidential primaries held earlier this year, the media coined the term “Bernie Bros” to reference the most diehard supporters of Socialist Bernie Sanders. A look at Jones’ finance reports offers strong evidence that the Bernie Bros and the Dougie Dems are one and the same.
Alabama needs to replace Jones with a strong conservative who will help President Trump drain the Swamp and fight the liberal tide that threatens our core American values.
The next senator Alabamians send to Capitol Hill needs to be someone who sides with faith, family and freedom, not with Schumer, Pelosi and Cortez.
I hope to earn your vote and become the next conservative U.S. Senator that Alabama needs so desperately.
