As Birmingham Southern College begins the inevitable process of shutting down the university by May 31, the school is offering alumni and fans one last chance to purchase a final edition, BSC license plate. According to Birmingham Southern, the plates will be available until the end of this month.
“When you purchase the BSC specialty license plate, the college receives $48.75 as a charitable contribution, you share your pride in BSC, and you contribute to the education of deserving students,” an announcement on the school website stated.
The cost for a BSC plate is $50, in addition to the normal registration fee of $24.25.
In 2023, only 1,202 Alabamians bought a BSC license plate. The school’s current enrollment is under 1,000 students.

Upon closure of the college, over 200 people are likely to be terminated without severance.
The license plate can be purchased at the local tag office in the county where you reside. Find the Motor Vehicle Office in your county. Once manufactured, the license plate will be shipped directly to you, normally in about 6 weeks.
Pre-numbered plates may be obtained immediately at the time of purchase.
