According to a press statement from the campaign released on Monday, Greenville businessman Tim James will officially kick off his campaign with an announcement on Wednesday.
The announcement will take place at the steps of the Alabama Capitol at 10 a.m on January 12.
“He will outline his platform to make Alabama a national leader in preserving America’s godly heritage while also focusing on key issues to transform our state into an economic powerhouse,” the release said.
James’ formal entry will make official his bid in what is shaping up to be a crowded field, which includes incumbent Gov. Kay Ivey, former U.S. ambassador to Slovenia Lindy Blanchard, Kings Ranch president Lew Burdette, Opelika pastor Dean Odle, Springville Mayor Dave Thomas and State Auditor Jim Zeigler.
Republicans will have the opportunity to select their preference to lead the ticket on the November 2022 ballot on May 24 in the Republican primary.
