The University of Alabama men’s basketball program is coming to Birmingham in the preseason — but this time will be extra special.
In a pre-season game with all proceeds benefitting Children’s of Alabama, Tide Hoops will take on Wake Forest in Boutwell Auditorium on October 18 in what will be the first basketball game Boutwell has hosted in 45 years.
With only 2,000 seats available, it will be a tough ticket to get for Tide fans that want to see their team play in a small venue. Pre-sale will begin next week on September 10 with regular sales beginning two days later on September 12.

“The Boutwell Auditorium will ultimately offer a very exclusive and intimate environment for college basketball,” Knight Eady president Michael Eady told WRBC 6. “We’ll be able to see just a little over 2,000 people there for the game, so this will be a basketball game unlike anything most fans are experiencing when they go to a typical college basketball game.”
Alabama’s regular season will begin just over two weeks later in Tuscaloosa at Coleman Coliseum when the Tide takes on UNC-Asheville.
