‘The fresh face with new ideas’: Lt. Governor Will Ainsworth endorses Caroleene Dobson for Secretary of State

One of the candidates for Alabama Secretary of State just got a big boost from a very popular official in the Yellowhammer State.

Lieutenant Governor Will Ainsworth announced on Tuesday his endorsement of Caroleene Dobson for the seat in the 2026 election cycle.

“Caroleene Dobson is the fresh face with new ideas that we need protecting Alabama’s election system from cheating, fraud, and abuse,” Ainsworth said. “Her detailed campaign platform ensures that honestly cast votes will be counted honestly and that those who attempt to rig or manipulate our elections will be fast tracked to arrest and aggressive prosecution.”

Dobson first announced her campaign for the role in June, and has become the frontrunner in the polls.

The candidate has pledged to create a new Election Security Division to help combat potential voter fraud in the state.

“Preliminary investigations can require a serious commitment of resources by local prosecutors when they need to devote those same resources to property crimes and violent crime,” Dobson said. “The reality is, we need to supplement election integrity enforcement at the state level.”

Ainsworth likes the idea and touted it as one of the reasons for his endorsement.

“As secretary of state, Caroleene will stand tall against the out-of-state liberals that swarm Alabama each election cycle and engage in ballot harvesting and other questionable methods while attempting to turn our bright red, Republican state into a purple one,” Ainsworth said. “Her Election Security Division will serve as the first line of defense to prevent fraud because she understands that without honest elections, our state’s traditional morals and conservative Alabama values are at risk of being lost.”

Equally important, Ainsworth said, is Dobson’s commitment to reducing costs and providing quick and efficient services to Alabama businesses that utilize the Business Division within the Office of Secretary of State.

“Every business owner dreads navigating the red tape and regulations that Montgomery often places in their path, but Caroleene is committed to providing services in a manner that is simple, painless, and, most importantly, affordable,” Ainsworth said. “Because she is not a career politician, Caroleene brings a much needed outsider’s perspective and commonsense view to the way state government is supposed to operate.”

Ainsworth, who won more votes than any other statewide candidate in the 2018 election cycle, is completing his second term as lieutenant governor and has announced plans to return to the private sector when his current term ends in 2027.
