The music of the late singer-songwriter John Prine will be recreated on Friday, September 19 at a historic location – the restored Ritz Theater on the courthouse square in Talladega.

While John Prine is gone, his music lives on. Prine is not as well-known as some other singers and songwriters, but he has a large and loyal cult following in Alabama. You can expect fans from all over Alabama to head to Talladega Sept. 19 to relive and honor “Prine Time.” Show starts at 7 p.m. The Ritz is located at 115 Court Square North in Talladega.

You remember The Traveling Willburys? A state of Alabama version of that conglomeration of outstanding musicians has joined together and will present the John Prine story in music – mostly his music. They call themselves “The Alabama Troubadours.” Their lineup includes:

  • Rick Carter of Rollin in the Hay and Telluride
  • Stan Foster of Rollin the Hay and Phil and Foster
  • Donna Hall of Wet Willie
  • William “Moose Harrell” of Jason Ringenberg and Telluride.

The official trailer for the show reads:
