Stillman College, a private HBCU in Tuscaloosa, this week announced three additions to its board of trustees.
Founded in 1876, Stillman is a liberal arts college historically and formally associated with the Presbyterian Church.
The college announced that Terry Saban, Katie Boyd Britt and James Anderson, Ph.D., have been named as trustees of the institution.
Saban is the CEO of the Nick’s Kids Foundation, which she co-founded with her husband: the legendary head football coach at the University of Alabama. Fondly called “Miss Terry,” Saban is known as an active philanthropist across Alabama and previously served on the board of Capstone Bank.
Britt, a former student body president at the University of Alabama and former chief of staff to U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL), currently serves as the president and CEO of the Business Council of Alabama (BCA). Britt was named a Yellowhammer Woman of Impact in 2019.
“The mission of Stillman College to foster excellence, provide opportunities to all, and prepare others for leadership and service is not only in direct alignment to that of the Business Council of Alabama but also to my own core values,” stated Britt. “I am honored for the opportunity to come alongside the leadership of Stillman and serve the students, faculty in this role.”
Anderson has spent his career in several higher education roles, currently serving as dean of the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is an alumnus of Stillman.
