Tax dollars are funding EV charging stations. Dale Strong says at least make them in America.

In 2021, when Congress passed the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, promoted and signed into law by President Joe Biden, it included a waiver that made significant changes to Buy America requirements for federally-funded infrastructure projects.

U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Monrovia) says while he would, prefer to repeal the billions of dollars that the Democrats have spent on their green agenda, the Biden Administration is changing the rules on the manufacturing of electric vehicle chargers in a way that will directly benefit China.

“The Biden Administration is not only pushing a green agenda on the American people and trying to ban gas vehicles in the future—but is also now taking the legs out from under our American companies working to manufacture EV chargers to meet his crazy agenda,” Strong said.

On Thursday, Rep. Strong and the House voted 209-198 in favor of a resolution that would reject the Federal Highway Administration’s Buy America waiver to allow a fund of $7.5 billion to be spent outside of the United States.

The waiver would allow EV manufacturers to use foreign products, including materials from China, to build EV chargers. Now passed by both the U.S. House and Senate, it heads back to Joe Biden’s desk for him to reconsider what “Buy America” actually means.

“Congress specifically included these Buy America provisions to ensure that American tax dollars were spent here at home. Apparently, Joe Biden has other ideas. By waiving these rules, he is ensuring that the Chinese Communist Party benefits. It is not the fault of the American people that the Biden Administration’s green agenda continues to fail, but the Administration is intent on punishing American companies and rewarding our adversaries by ignoring the rules Congress has in place,” Strong said.

“President Biden signed the legislation that included the provision that his Administration is now blatantly disregarding. This makes clear what we have known all along that President Biden’s plan is full of empty promises that harm the American people.”
