On Wednesday, a meeting of the Alabama Joint Legislative Council met at the current State House in Montgomery to hear and see proposed details about the future State House building, which will be constructed across the street, hopefully by January 2027.
Goodwyn Mills Cawood is the lead architecture firm responsible for the project, and was represented before the state’s top legislative leaders by Bill Wallace, who walked through the proposed designs. Wallace said their team has been hard at work since the plan was formally approved in September 2023, exactly 60 years after the current State House first opened its doors.
