Steve Marshall, Republican AGs promise to execute President-elect Trump’s immigration plans, including ‘largest deportation in U.S. history’

Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall has long been a staunch supporter of cracking down on illegal immigration. On Wednesday, Marshall signed onto a joint statement with twenty other Republican Attorney Generals issuing their praise and full support of President-elect Donald Trump’s immigration policies and goals.

“The Biden Administration took dozens of executive actions that weakened border controls and sanctioned illegal immigration from around the world. Republican attorneys general will support President Trump as he restores the rule of law to our immigration system,” read the statement. “We will work with President Trump to secure the border, end failed Biden Administration immigration policies, and effect the largest deportation in U.S. history. We will stand with President Trump as he makes America safe again.”

Marshall said that the Biden Administration’s disregard for countering illegal immigration forced AG’s across the country to file lawsuits to fight the unending flow of migrants.

“Over the last four years, my colleagues and I have seen the rapid deterioration at the border which required us to step in with legal action,” said Marshall. “Our coalition is immensely grateful for President Trump’s dedication to securing our borders and reversing the failed policies of the Biden Administration that led to unprecedented levels of illegal immigration. President Trump’s America First policies will once again ensure the safety and security of our nation.”

He also pointed to voters’ faith in Trump to solve the border issue.

“President Trump’s policies resulted in historic lows in illegal immigration during his first term, and his victory in November shows that Americans trust him to restore order at the border,” Marshall said. “I stand with my Republican colleagues in pledging our full support to ensure these policies are implemented and upheld in the courts if necessary.”

The AGs also praised key elements of Trump’s immigration plan, including:

  • Reinstating the “Remain in Mexico” policy to prevent waves of illegal immigration.
  • Finishing the border wall and ending the crisis at the southern border.
  • Stopping the abuse of immigration parole and issuing an executive order to address birthright citizenship concerns.
  • Rescinding unlawful programs, such as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).
  • Enhancing state and local law enforcement collaboration through Section 287(g) agreements.
