Alabama Public Service Commissioner Jeremy Oden this past Friday joined Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast to speak on his bid for another term of service on the state’s chief utility regulatory board.
Bannon, who served as the CEO of then-candidate Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and as chief political strategist to the 45th president, praised Oden for his efforts to maintain a conservative majority on the PSC.
Oden served as an honorary Alabama co-chair for Trump’s 2020 presidential reelection campaign and was appointed by the Trump administration to serve on the National Coal Council.
Bannon kicked off the interview by touting Oden for “fighting these radical environmentalists” that he asserted had intervened in the GOP primary on behalf of his opponent.
Oden will face Republican primary challenger Brent Woodall in the June 21 runoff election.
As previously reported by Yellowhammer News, Woodall’s campaign is being bankrolled by some of the most prominent environmentalists in the state, particularly Nelson Brooke of the Black Warrior Riverkeepers.
Brooke’s federal political donation history includes providing financial support to far-left candidates such as former President Barack Obama, “Green New Deal” socialist U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), former U.S. Sen. Doug Jones (D-Mountain Brook), among multiple other progressive individuals and causes.
Bannon sounded the alarm over what he proclaimed to be an attempt by left-wing candidates across the nation to run as Republicans in red states to make their candidates viable.
“This is one of the biggest issues we have out there today,” warned Bannon. “They know they can’t win with a ‘D’ next to their name, so they’re coming into these primaries and mouthing that they’re MAGA, but behind them the financing is all these left-wing Democrats.”
“This is a nationwide problem,” declared Bannon, going on to say “the controlled opposition establishment’s not going to give it up easily. You’re seeing this in the Oden race down in Alabama.”
“Fight on,” Bannon told Oden in concluding the interview. “These down-ballot races are critical.”
