State Sen. Tom Whatley releases first reelection campaign ad, vows to ‘take on radical D.C. socialists’

The reelection campaign of State Sen. Tom Whatley (R-Auburn) on Tuesday released its first advertisement for the 2022 primary election cycle.

Whatley is seeking reelection to the Alabama State Senate, District 27, which encompasses Lee, Tallapoosa and Russell Counties.

He currently serves on the Senate Finance and Taxation Education, Confirmations, Judiciary, Banking and Insurance, and Healthcare Committees. He is also past chairman of the Agriculture Conservation and Forestry Committee.

The ad kicks off with a voice-over saying, “Tom Whatley spent his life defending freedom, he’s not going to stop now.”

The senator, a colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves, has served in the Alabama National Guard, Active Army or Reserves for more than three decades.

“Tom’s a true Trump conservative, a reformer who will fight Pelosi and Biden’s mission to bankrupt our country,” the ad continues. “Tom will continue to cut wasteful spending, take on radical DC socialists, and fight to protect life and our second amendment rights.”

The ad concludes, “Tom Whatley listens, reforms, delivers, and will always put our Alabama Christian Conservative values first.”

In a statement accompanying the release, Whatley touched on the growth his district had experienced in recent years.

“My record is clear: I’ll stand up against any policy that seeks to threaten our conservative values,” pledged Whatley. “It’s really that simple. I work hard everyday to ensure the people of District 27 know they have a fighter in me.”

He added, “It is an honor to represent the people of East Alabama. We’re one of the fastest growing parts of the state in not only population, but economically as well, thanks to President Trump and the Conservative Alabama Legislature, and that’s something that I am proud to be a part of.”

Whatley further vowed to oppose those who he deemed to be undermining freedom and economic prosperity.

“I’m proud of our accomplishments in the State Senate and in Alabama. DC bureaucrats are doing everything they can to take our freedoms away and ruin the best economy we have ever seen. I’m not backing down. I’ll take on anyone who is willing to threaten that, and I’ll never back down,” concluded Whatley.
